Downtown is the tourist area with shopping, galleries, live music, historic homes, and special events. State Road 56/Main Street is the primary corridor. Clifty Falls State Park is on the west end of town and can be accessed from both State Road 62 (North Entrance) and 56 (South Entrance). Clifty Falls offers lodging, dining, camping, hiking, swimming, tennis, and more. For navigation reference Jefferson County Courthouse 300 East Main St. Madison, IN 47250 This is the eastern end of Main Street, downtown Madison. From Indianapolis (about 100 miles) Option 1: I-74 east to Greensburg. Exit 132 to US 421 South. US 421 becomes Jefferson Street in Madison. Option 2: I-65 south to Austin. Exit 34A to State Road 256 East to Madison. From Louisville (about 50 miles) Option 1: I-65 North to Exit 6A I-265 East to State Road 62 East to Madison. Option 2: I-71 North to Exit 34 US 421 North, which becomes Jefferson Street in downtown Madison. From Cincinnati (about 70 miles) Option 1: US 50 West to Versailles, then US 421 South to Madison. US 421 becomes Jefferson Street in downtown Madison. Option 2: I-71 South to Carrollton, KY. Exit 44 for Kentucky 227 North. Left on US 42, then straight onto Kentucky 36 to Milton. Right onto US 421, across the bridge into downtown Madison.
